About us

C’VILLE IMAGES is a private organization focused on photographs of Charlottesville, Virginia and the surrounding area.  This website features both new and vintage photographs and the stories behind the images.

We have built our collection of historical photographs from the donations of photographers, families, businesses, and individuals. We research photographs that are kept in other repositories like the Library of Congress and UVA’s Special Collections. We are also engaged in an on-going photo-documentation of contemporary Charlottesville through the photography of Steve Trumbull.  The photos, both new and old are used in slideshows, web projects, exhibits, and publications.
